Abstract
This article briefly reviews the research findings on post-stroke rehabilitative therapy mainly published in 2009. Topics on approaches for motor function recovery include the use of task specific training, constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT), and motor imagery. Rehabilitative strategies to improve functional recovery such as robotic gait training, non-invasive cortical stimulation for hand dexterity, attention process training (APT) for attention deficit, mirror therapy for affected arm pain, visual computerized speech therapy for aphasia, and optokinetic stimulation (OKS), cortical stimulation, and prism therapy for neglect are introduced. Also, pharmacotherapies using amphetamine, memantine, levodopa and ropinirol are discussed in this review.
